Comparing Polo to a Saturday Afternoon in Oxford, Mississippi

An impromptu invite from Tobias Flaitz, with tickets and logistics organized by Ray King, and on my final day in beautiful Buenos Aires I’m enjoying a Saturday afternoon of Polo. A great wrap up to the busiest week ever in the history of the world.

Polo is a lot like what my friends from Ole Miss offer up for a home college football game. It’s very nice. Very friendly. Polo is an elegant, refined, glamorous all day event. It requires the outsider looking in to step back and really appreciate what’s going on here.

Have you ever been to ‘The Grove’ at Ole Miss on a Saturday afternoon? Just like the first time you visit their elaborate party – you think how little you have in common with these good folks, yet leave wanting to learn more and someday return.

The best part about Polo? After the match they let you come onto the field, meet the players, mingle and truly feel a part of the event.  And, just like a Saturday afternoon in Oxford, Mississippi you learn how much you actually do have in common with these good folks.

I Purchased The Last Ticket To Sold Out Paco Event

Referred to as ‘one of history’s greatest guitarist’, Spanish flamenco guitarist Paco De Lucia performed to a passionate sold out Theatro Gran Rex, Buenos Aires audience Saturday evening.

Fortunate to purchase the very last seat to the show, I learned there’s much more to a Paco show than just fancy guitar. An ensemble of  artists support the classic great, with a passionate crowd whooping and yelling their support to the performers throughout the event.

A Paco show offers – along with the expected fascinating guitar work- hand clapping, finger snapping, dancers stomping, bongos popping, bass thumping, singers wailing and  (pause for un momento)  an electronic harmonica offered up  by World renowned Spanish harmonica genius Antonio Serrano, so smooth- SO SMOOTH – the sound still hangs with you a day later.

Kilkenny Irish Pub Walking Distance From ICANN48

IcannBuzz.Com wrapped Friday night up at The Kilkenny Irish Pub located at Marcelo T de Alvear 399, a five minute walk from the Sheraton Buenos Aires ICANN48 host hotel. Downstairs featured local musicians belting out a nice set of classic rock and roll tunes. Upstairs, lights flashing as DJ played to younger techno crowd.

Quaint pub setting, good music, not terribly crowded. From here -American in Buenos Aires frequenting an Irish Pub- The Kilkenny appears to be excellent choice for wrapping up an evening out with friends. Let us know your opinion. Website @thekilkenny
